Shoulders hurt from sitting at computer all day?
What are the correct office chair ergonomics?
Vero Beach Chiropractor- Many people spend an entire day in an office chair and only get up a few times. I get asked a lot about the price of a desk chair and if a higher amount means a better chair for the back and neck. Not always a true situation. Higher prices may indicate more expensive leather or a fancier design. It is more important to have a chair and desk that are set up correctly. Many studies have been performed as to what the correct setup is. This is called ergonomics. When looking at a person from the side, feet should be flat on the floor. Knees should be just below hips and the person should be sitting all the way back in the chair. Keeping keyboard height as close to the legs as possible with the mouse next to the keyboard will help reduce shoulder height. The computer screen should remain higher with the bottom of the screen at eye level so your eye focus is not down. By doing these simple posture adjustments you can often reduce the amount of painful symptoms a person experiences from sitting all day at a computer. Standing desks are getting more popular and I am in favor of those also. Check back next time for more about these new desks.
