Are car seats good for your back?

Chiropractor Vero Beach, Fl.- Living in a town that has a lot of seasonal residents, I get a lot of patients that ask about car seats. Our seasonal residents make the journey down from colder weather to the Sunshine State, in search of warmer weather. This trip can sometimes be up to 25 hours in the car. Some do it all in one fell swoop and some people split the trip up into a few days. Regardless, it’s still a long time to be in a seat and sore backs and necks are quite common. Sciatica flare ups may happen, and traffic stress can cause headaches. These are common complaints after the journey. As for seats, SUVs tend to be the best (maybe not for the gas bill.) Sports cars tend to be the worst with low seats and stretched out legs. I always tell people to use the cruise control as much as possible and to stop frequently to get out and move around and always increase the lumbar support to take stress off the back. Unfortunately, it’s a long time to spend in one spot not moving around at all. Try not to white knuckle drive and try not to let the stress get to you.
